When exporting answers from the Submission Area, you can export using your own custom template — defining typography, colours, headers and footers so submissions come out looking like your organisation's documents rather than a default.
Create a template
Go to Templates & Styles → Word Templates.
Click New Template. The template builder opens.
General
Set the template name.
Toggle whether the export should include a table of contents.
Typography
Set the following:
Base font, size and colour
Question heading — size, colour and boldness
Sub-question heading — size, colour and boldness
Answer heading — size, colour and boldness
To change a colour, click the colour swatch to open the colour picker.
Header and footer
Enable the header or footer, as required.
Enter text in the Left text and Right text fields.
You can type plain text, insert dynamic fields, or combine both. Type { in a field to see the available fields:
{projectName} | The project name |
{exportDate} | The date of export |
{pageNumber} | The current page number |
{totalPages} | The total number of pages |
For a footer reading "Page 1 of 10", enter: Page {pageNumber} of {totalPages}
Save
Click Save.
Templates control appearance. The structure and content of the export itself is covered in Exporting Your Final Answers.
Manage your templates
Set the default
The default template is marked with a Default tag on the Word Export Templates page.
To change it, click Set default in the top-right corner of the template card you want to use.
Edit a template
Click the edit icon in the top-right corner of the template card.
Change any of the fields above.
Save.
Editing a template affects future exports only. Documents already exported are unchanged.
Delete a template
Click the bin icon in the top-right corner of the template card.
Click Delete to confirm.
Best practice
Build the template before your first submission deadline, not during it.
Export a real answer set as a test, and open it in Word. Headers, footers and heading hierarchy are much easier to judge on the page than in the builder.
Where a buyer specifies formatting requirements, build a template for that tender rather than editing your standard one.
