Comments let reviewers shape a draft without editing it. Every comment is anchored to a specific passage of text, threaded, and fully auditable - so the record shows not only what changed, but why.
The division of labour is deliberate: assignees draft and refine the content, and reviewers guide, challenge and validate through comments. See Roles and collaboration in the Answer Workspace.
What comments are for
Capturing reviewer feedback without altering the draft
Clarifying intent, requirements or concerns
Flagging risks, compliance issues and improvement opportunities
Holding a structured discussion between assignees and reviewers
Add a comment
There are two ways to do this.
From the comments sidebar
Click the Comments icon in the top-right of the workspace.
Click Add a comment.
Highlight the relevant passage in the editor.
Type your comment.
Click Post Comment.
From the text itself
Highlight the passage you want to comment on. An Ask BidBot input bar appears.
Click the Comments icon at the far right of that input bar.
Type your comment.
Click Post Comment.
Either way, the comment appears in the right-hand sidebar and stays linked to the highlighted text.
Reply to a comment
Every comment supports threaded replies, so a discussion stays attached to the passage it concerns rather than spreading across the workspace.
Click Reply beneath a comment to add to its thread.
Expand or collapse threads to keep the draft readable.
Resolve a comment
Resolve comments once you have acted on them. An unresolved comment on an addressed point makes it impossible to see what work is genuinely outstanding.
Resolve it yourself
Update the draft to address the comment.
Mark the comment as Resolved.
This is the usual route for straightforward feedback.
Resolve it with BidBot
Where a comment calls for rewording, restructuring or strengthening, BidBot can do the work.
Click the sparkle icon on the comment card. BidBot opens in split view with the commented text already selected.
Select the Bid Libraries BidBot should draw from, using the Libraries button at the bottom of the input bar. See BidBot in the Answer Workspace.
Add any further instruction, and submit.
BidBot regenerates the passage using your approved sources. Review the suggestion, accept or reject it, then mark the comment resolved.
Delete a comment
If a comment is no longer relevant — a duplicate, or something out of scope — click the bin icon on the comment card.
Deleting a comment removes it from the workspace and does not affect the draft.
Best practice
For reviewers:
Be specific and actionable.
Reference the requirement, evaluation criterion or risk behind your point.
Do not rewrite whole sections inside a comment — say what needs to change and why.
For assignees:
Work through comments systematically rather than picking off the easy ones.
Use BidBot-assisted resolution where it genuinely saves time.
Resolve each comment once the change is complete.
Comments and version control
Comment activity is tracked separately from content versions.
Posting or resolving a comment does not create a new version of the answer.
Content changes made in response to a comment are captured automatically as snapshots.
Together these give you an audit trail of both what changed and why. See Version control.
