Classifying a document as a Response Document is only the first layer. BidScript then breaks that document down section by section and gives each section its own category.
This section-level structure exists only inside response documents. Appendices and Other documents are not broken down this way.
Getting these categories right matters: the sections categorised as Bid Response are the ones that lead to your question table.
Open a response document
In the Workspace tab, click the response document you want to review.
The document opens in two panes:
A navigation panel on the left, listing every section in the document with its category and any subsection indicators.
A document preview on the right, showing the original document content.
Use the + and − controls on the preview to zoom in and out, and scroll to read sections in context.
Review each section's category against the preview beside it. Reading the section as the buyer wrote it is the quickest way to spot a category that has been applied incorrectly.
The six section categories
Bid Response | Sections containing questions or prompts the bidder must answer directly. |
Commercial and Pricing | Sections relating to costs, rates, pricing schedules or commercial terms. |
Evidence and Returnables | Sections requiring supporting documents, certificates or completed templates. |
Evaluation Criteria | Sections describing how the buyer will score or assess the response. The bidder does not write into these. |
Review and Alignment | Sections the bidder reads, acknowledges, or confirms alignment with. |
Process and Events | Procedural information such as timelines, deadlines, submission instructions or tender milestones. |
Change a section's category
In the left-hand navigation panel, find the section.
Click the ⋯ icon to the right of the section name.
Select Change category.
Choose the correct category from the list that appears.
Other section actions
The same ⋯ menu offers four further actions.
Change the parent section | At section level, this changes the document classification. At subsection level, it restructures the section hierarchy. |
Add a subsection | Insert a new subsection within an existing section. |
Add a question | Add a question directly within a section or subsection. |
Remove the section | Delete the section from the document structure. |
Work with subsections
If a section contains subsections, clicking it expands an indented list of those subsections in the left-hand panel.
Subsections carry the same categories and the same ⋯ actions as top-level sections.
Open a Bid Response section
Click any section categorised as Bid Response to open the question table for that section.
From the question table you can extract questions with BidBot, and manage the questions once they exist.
